Lacey's Practice: Embracing Renewal
Lacey integrates the energy of the Spring Equinox by incorporating practices that align with the spirit of renewal and vitality. She focuses on rejuvenating her body and spirit, embracing activities that refresh her connection to nature and herself. This season, she emphasizes the importance of being outdoors, engaging with the blooming environment, and allowing the fresh energy of spring to inspire her daily routines.
Tip 1: Rituals of Renewal and Purification
To truly embody the spirit of the Spring Equinox, Lacey suggests incorporating rituals that symbolize renewal and purification. This can include spring cleaning your living space, decluttering physical and mental spaces, and adopting practices that cleanse and rejuvenate the body, such as hydration rituals, nourishing diets rich in bone broths and sprouts, and skincare routines that focus on renewal, like exfoliation and hydration.
Practice: Spring Cleaning for New Energy
As the Spring Equinox symbolizes new beginnings and rejuvenation, it presents the perfect opportunity for a thorough spring cleaning—not just in terms of decluttering and organizing, but also in reassessing the products we use daily in our homes and on our bodies. Lacey advocates for a holistic approach to spring cleaning, focusing on purifying our living spaces and personal care routines by replacing toxic ingredients and expired products with clean, non-toxic alternatives.
Lacey has meticulously curated a Detox Guide, a comprehensive resource designed to help you identify and swap out items that may be contributing to a toxic load in your environment. This guide covers a broad range of household and personal care items, offering low-tox alternatives that support both your well-being and the planet.
For your skincare routine, Lacey emphasizes the importance of examining your current products for harmful chemicals and preservatives that can be absorbed by your skin. She suggests transitioning to holistic, non-toxic skincare solutions, like those found in the Complete Skin Makeover line. These products are crafted with your health and skin's natural balance in mind, ensuring that you're not only eliminating toxins but also nourishing your skin with pure, effective ingredients.
Implementing these changes can dramatically shift the energy of your home and personal space, inviting in a fresh, vibrant energy that aligns with the spirit of spring. By choosing clean, non-toxic alternatives, you're taking a step towards a healthier lifestyle and environment, resonating with the renewal that the Spring Equinox brings.
Tip 2: Sowing Seeds of Intention
The Spring Equinox is the perfect moment to plant the seeds of your intentions for the months ahead. Lacey encourages you to reflect on what you wish to bring into your life and what you aim to grow. Write down these intentions, planting each one like a seed in the garden of your mind. Visualize these seeds sprouting, growing, and blossoming, mirroring the natural world's revival.
Practice: Spring Equinox Meditation
Lacey shares a simple yet profound meditation practice for the Spring Equinox:
Conclude your meditation with gratitude, thanking yourself for taking the time to connect with the energy of the Spring Equinox and the potential for growth it brings.
This mantra invites you to open your heart and life to growth, embodying the essence of spring's blossoming nature.
Use this mantra to remind yourself of the importance of letting go of the past or what no longer serves you, allowing for rejuvenation and new beginnings.
The Spring Equinox is a powerful time to embrace change, renewal, and growth. Lacey's insights and practices offer a pathway to align with the season's vibrant energy, encouraging us to awaken our inner growth and step into the possibilities that lie ahead.

Lacey's Practice: Nourishing with Chinese Herbs Lacey shares her current practice, where she's delving into the daily use of Chinese herbs to nourish her blood and qi. These age-old remedies have become an integral part of her routine, providing vital support and balance during the winter's introspective phase. For Lacey, nurturing her essence during this season has become a fundamental self-care ritual.
Tip 1: Intention Setting for Spring's Bloom With the new year on the horizon, Lacey encourages setting intentions aligned with the Winter Solstice's energy. Take time to reflect, visualize, and set intentions for what you wish to see blossom in the coming spring. Embrace the quietude of the solstice to nurture these intentions, laying the groundwork for growth and transformation in the months ahead.
Tip 2: Abhyanga and Dry Brushing for Self-Care Lacey emphasizes the importance of self-care rituals like dry brushing and self abhyanga, a self-massage practice using CSM Rosehip Remedy Oil. Dry brushing exfoliates dead skin cells, stimulates circulation, and supports the lymphatic system, promoting detoxification and a radiant glow. Self abhyanga nourishes the skin, enhances circulation, calms the nervous system, and brings a sense of grounding, especially crucial during the winter months. Using CSM Rosehip Remedy Oil further enriches this practice, as rosehip oil is deeply moisturizing and packed with antioxidants, promoting skin rejuvenation and overall wellness.
Tip 3: Embrace Nourishing Winter Foods Lacey emphasizes the importance of nourishing your body with winter-specific foods. Incorporate warming soups, root vegetables, and nourishing broths into your diet. These foods not only provide comfort but also align with the winter season's need for grounding and internal warmth.
Tip 4: Create a Winter Sanctuary Transform your space into a winter sanctuary by incorporating cozy elements. Use warm blankets, soft lighting, and natural elements like pinecones or evergreen branches to create a soothing ambiance. This sanctuary becomes a space for introspection, meditation, and setting intentions.
I am a vessel of light, nurturing seeds of growth within ✨
As you recite this mantra during the Winter Solstice, envision yourself as a vessel—filled with the radiant light of possibilities. Feel this light nurturing the seeds of your aspirations, tenderly tending to them within your being. Visualize this light illuminating your intentions for the new year, providing the energy and nourishment needed for them to sprout and flourish when the time is right.
With each breath, I embrace the stillness and welcome transformation 💛
Allow this mantra to guide your breath during the Winter Solstice. With each inhale, draw in the serenity and tranquility of the moment, embracing the stillness that surrounds you. As you exhale, release any resistance to change and welcome transformation. Feel the rhythm of your breath harmonizing with the rhythm of the solstice, a reminder that transformation is a natural part of life's cycle—necessary for growth and evolution.
Incorporating these mantras during the Winter Solstice can deepen your connection to the moment, infusing your intentions with light and embracing the transformative energy of this season.
]]>The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, but it can also bring a few unwelcome guests—extra stress, indulgent foods, and perhaps more toxins than we'd like. Lacey, the visionary behind Complete Skin Makeover, is here to guide you on optimizing your body's ability to flush out toxins while elevating your self-care routine during this festive time. In her journey to embrace hidden growth (think a butterfly's cocoon or a seed growing in the ground) this winter, she shares practical tips for radiant skin, inner warmth, and a toxin-free holiday season.
Tip 1: Daily Dry Brushing and Gua Sha
Lacey's first secret to glowing skin during the holiday season is daily dry brushing before her shower. This ritual not only exfoliates the skin but also stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding in the detoxification process. She also incorporates Gua Sha into her routine, gently massaging her face, scalp, and neck 2-3 times a week, (or more if bloating strikes). This practice enhances circulation, reduces puffiness, and offers a moment of relaxation in the midst of holiday chaos.
Tip 2: Embrace Stillness and Warmth
In the winter theme of hidden growth, Lacey emphasizes the importance of looking within and warming ourselves from the inside out. Regular meditation helps her find stillness and inner peace. Sipping on warm herbal teas and bone broths not only keeps you cozy but also supports your body's natural detox mechanisms. Lighting non-toxic candles and basking by the fireplace, if you have one, adds to the warmth and ambiance. Stay active with gentle stretching to keep your lymphatic system flowing, especially when the cold weather tempts you to hibernate.
Tip 3: Declutter and Create Positive Energy
Lacey's holiday season isn't complete without decluttering her home and inviting in good Feng Shui. Clearing out the old tells the universe that you're ready for new beginnings in the coming year. Find your center and peace in the midst of holiday chaos by simplifying your space.
Tip 4: Go Low-Tox for the Holidays
Lacey suggests taking advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales as well as limited edition holiday bundles to replace toxic household items, makeup, and skincare products with clean, healthier alternatives. Give the gift of a toxin-free holiday by gifting your friends and family with non-toxic products, and bidding farewell to traditional toxic candles and perfumes.
Tip 5: Treating Yourself & Going Easy on Yourself
In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it's not uncommon to slip up or deviate from your low-tox goals. After all, you're human! Lacey's invaluable advice during these moments of lapse is to go easy on yourself. Remember, perfection isn't the goal— progress is. If you find that you've strayed from your low-tox path, treat yourself to a soothing collagen face mask. Not only does it rejuvenate your skin, but it also serves as a gentle reminder to care for yourself. Forgive any missteps, embrace self-compassion, and use these moments as an opportunity to refocus on your low-tox journey with renewed determination.
Mantra: I embrace the warmth within and radiate it out. ✨

]]>As the temperatures finally begin to drop, nature undergoes its transformation, and the Fall Equinox approaches, it's the perfect time to join Lacey, the founder of Complete Skin Makeover, in embracing the season's theme of "letting go."
Lacey's Fall Equinox rituals are a beautiful blend of self-care, nature connection, and intention-setting, all designed to help you reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
Lacey's favorite way to immerse herself in the beauty of fall is by taking daily walks. She finds solace and grounding in nature, often heading to the breathtaking Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas. Follow her lead and make it a habit to step outside, breathe in the crisp autumn air, and take in the changing colors of the season. Connecting with nature not only nourishes your soul but also provides a perfect backdrop for reflection and letting go.
On the day of the equinox, Lacey practices deep reflection and gratitude. She takes time to acknowledge the journey of the past year, celebrating the milestones and lessons learned. She then sets intentions for the remainder of the year, focusing on cultivating more passion and gratitude in her life. This ritual is a powerful way to stay present, recognize your growth, and pave the way for a brighter future.
During this season of letting go, repeat this mantra as you reflect on the aspects of your life that no longer align with your goals, values, or happiness. Embrace the equinox as an opportunity to shed old habits, beliefs, or relationships that hold you back and make space for positive growth.
As you set your intentions for the coming months, repeat this mantra to foster an attitude of gratitude and anticipation. It's a reminder to appreciate how far you've come and approach the future with optimism and enthusiasm.
Lacey's self-care routine during this season includes a luxurious candlelit bath infused with rose petals, rosemary bundles, Rosehip Remedy Oil, Epsom salt or magnesium flakes. This indulgent bath is designed to soothe your body and mind, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and pampered.
Incorporating Lacey's Fall Equinox rituals into your life can be a transformative experience. Take the time to connect with nature, reflect on your journey, set meaningful intentions, and indulge in self-care (it's the perfect time to update your skincare routine for Fall, too). By embracing the season of letting go, you'll find yourself better prepared to welcome the new opportunities and blessings that lie ahead. Fall Equinox for 2023 is on Friday September 22nd.💫
]]>Unless you're a cosmetic chemist, the ingredients list on the back of a sunscreen label can be confusing.
And throw in a few tongue-twisting ingredients with a constantly changing landscape of what's considered "safe." You've got a recipe for misinformation. 😕
But we're here to dig in, find the nuggets of truth, and spill the tea on what's safe and what to ditch.
There's been lots of talk about sunscreen lately—from toxic chemicals to complete bans on ingredients and questioning whether the pros outweigh the cons.
But sunscreen is a good thing, right? It protects you from sunburn, skin cancer, and premature aging.
While sunscreen is supposed to help protect you from harmful sun rays, some sunscreens contain ingredients that can do more harm than good.
While we don't have a sunscreen (yet!) at CSM, we still want to help you make good choices. 🙌
Most people don't realize that not all sunscreens are created equal. Some sunscreens are harmful to your health and can even cause cancer (the thing you're trying to avoid by wearing it!).
Sunscreens are either formulated to work as UV absorbers or blockers. Many chemical (vs. mineral) sunscreens contain ingredients that absorb UV rays and have a better chance of entering your bloodstream. Not good!
Before you reach for sun protection, read the label, and avoid these 5 nasty chemicals.
Your health (and the planet) will thank you!
🚫 Benzene
🚫 Oxybenzone
🚫 Octinoxate
🚫 Homosalate
🚫 Nanoparticle titanium dioxide
These toxic ingredients have been linked to minor irritations like allergic reactions to major health problems like hormone disruption, issues with fetal development, DNA damage, and even cancer.
Many of the sunscreen chemicals also harm precious aquatic life, like bleaching and killing coral reefs and damaging the DNA in sea urchins, mussels, algae, and other sea creatures.🐚
Oxybenzone and Octinoxate have recently been banned in Hawaii (and several other global locations) for the destruction they cause. CSM won't stand for that!
But, there are skin- and planet-healthy options we love.💖
Mineral sunscreens that sit on top of the skin to deflect & scatter UV rays (vs. absorb) are great alternatives.
Look for these UV-blocking ingredients:
✅️ Non-nano zinc oxide
✅️ Nano-free titanium dioxide
Beauty bonus: Because mineral sunscreens don't sink into your skin, they're better for sensitive skin and less likely to cause breakouts or irritation. Double win!
So, now you know what sunscreen ingredients to ditch and what gets the green light. 💚
But what about the other chemicals in skincare?
Being a savvy consumer and label detective is good for your health, but it doesn't have to be overwhelming. 👀
We've done some digging and curated this handy list of 10 toxic ingredients to avoid—helping you steer clear of the big nasties out there. 🕵️
And just because a product label has green logos and fancy "healthy-looking" stickers, don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors of an eco-friendly look.
They could be greenwashing (appearance of being healthy and green, but NOT). 🌿
Don't worry. There's a simple solution to rise above the sludge.
Avoid flashy claims: Read the ingredient list instead of the marketing claims. 📖
We'll NEVER hide something toxic in our products and are always transparent about what goes into every formula.🪟🔍
You deserve something better than hidden chemicals and misleading marketing. That's why we stand for high-quality, reasonably priced products that you can trust… Ones that actually work. 🙌
It’s that time of year again! The time where we all stress about what to get the mom who has everything for Mother’s Day. 🙃 The team at CSM is here to help—let this be the only Mother’s Day gift guide that you need to read in 2023. We’ve got a ton of ideas for thoughtful (and clean) Mother’s Day gifts for the special mamas in your life.
On a more serious note… Before we get into the gift guide, we understand that Mother’s Day is extremely difficult for some. We hold space for and are thinking of you and your loved ones. 💛
If you do plan to celebrate Mother’s Day this year, hopefully this gift guide inspires you to choose simple, low-tox, yet thoughtful options for the special mama in your life. While the traditional gifts might be sugar-loaded chocolates or bad-for-you scented candles, each of the following gift ideas are clean and easy to source at a local shop across the country.
Happy gifting!
Show your mom how much you care about her with a Mother’s Day gift she’ll remember for years. 🥰
💖 A flower subscription for monthly blooms! This is a long-time favorite gift of ours. Mom loves flowers. Why not extend the bit of beauty in her home beyond Mother’s Day (and get that favorite child of the year award)? Ask your local florist if they offer subscriptions for mom to pick up her monthly prepaid bouquet. So many small shops do this!
💖 A cookbook full of good-for-you meal ideas. Bonus points if you offer to cook for her from this book! We like giving experiences over simply physical items, so this is the best of both worlds. You could make it a recurring monthly date night with mom—the gift that keeps on giving in the form of quality time and learning together. An amazing bonding experience. 🙌
💖 An at-home spa day. Treat yourself and mom to our clean skincare line. If you want to create an indulgent at-home experience, we suggest going for the RENEW Organic Facial Cleanser to start fresh, the ROSE ALOE WITCH Facial Toner for deep hydration, and the Gold Face Mask for a collagen boost. Grab a Gua Sha stone for a selfie-style facial massage. And hold your hair back with matching Spa Headbands. You can thank us later!
Did your bestie just become a mom? Those early days can be challenging, so show her how special she is with a cute Mother’s Day gift.
💖 Girls date day together. Treat your new mom friend to a bit of time outside of the house this Mother’s Day. The dads get to go golfing… Why can’t the moms go for a (clean) pedicure or lunch on a patio? Plus, it’s a treat for you too. 🥰
💖 A cute and cozy lounge set for newborn snuggles and errand runs with the stroller. You could even go matchy matchy with mama and baby coordinating outfits. So fun for the new mom in your life!
💖 A clean skincare refresh. The new mama in your life absolutely needs a couple of things: An easy go-to daily skincare routine, and the Dry Brush Set for a little extra Me Time. For her new daily lineup, we recommend the RENEW Organic Facial Cleanser, the ROSE ALOE WITCH Facial Toner, the REVERSE Serum, and the RICH Organic Face Cream. The set promises full body exfoliation, and it’s an easy gift even if she’s new to sticking with a skincare regimen.
Grandma deserves some extra pampering! These gift ideas for grandma on Mother’s Day are definitely going to bring in the brownie points for the best grandchild.
💖 Non-toxic candles (or something similar). You know that grandma loves her some candles! If she’s not already aware of the harmful ingredients in most candles, now is the perfect time to open her world to non-toxic options. A diffuser with essential oils would be an even better option.
💖 A sleep mask and pajama set. It’s called Beauty Sleep for a reason! Give grandma a restful night’s sleep with a silky mask or pajama set… Or both. Because she deserves it. 🥰
💖 Radiant skin and an aromatherapy experience. We absolutely love the Rosehip REMEDY Face Oil, and you can bet that anyone you gift this to will too! This extreme hydration boost helps create a youthful glow. And it feels sooo good when you massage it into your skin with our Gua Sha stone.
If you have littles at home, they’re probably not going to help you with your wife’s Mother’s Day gift this year. One day they'll be big enough to do this on their own, but for now… It’s on you. Here’s some Mother’s Day gift ideas to help you out!
💖 A giftcard to a local shop. She probably has her favorites in town, so let her indulge in not only pretty things, but the chance to shop solo. Offer to entertain the kids for the afternoon while she uses the giftcard. It’s a simple gesture that will mean a lot, you don’t actually have to pick out anything (phew!), and she gets some hands-free time. Win/win/win! 👏
💖 Make her brunch while she gets to enjoy some quiet time. Enlist the kids to help you with this one! If your wife is the kind of person who has everything, the best gift you can give is quality time and acts of service. A quiet morning alone with zero responsibilities followed by brunch with the family might just be her kind of perfection. You don’t even have to buy anything if you don’t want to! But we do suggest not skipping the flowers.
💖 Gift your hardworking wife alone time to indulge in a totally clean skincare routine. Lacey’s Ultimate Face and Body Bundle is perfect if your partner is in desperate need of a refresh to her daily routines. She’s probably so busy running around after the kids and deserves a new daily ritual that’s just for her. The Ultimate Bundle has all that she needs—and more for the times when she has a few extra minutes to indulge.
You know that you’re not the only one stressing about what to get the mama in your life for Mother’s Day. Help a friend out by sharing the Complete Mother’s Day gift guide with them. 🥰
What are endocrine disruptors, and where are they found? Uncovering phthalates, artificial fragrance, and other toxic ingredients in skincare products.
Have you ever stopped to think about what’s really in your sunscreen, skincare, or cleaning products? Or what’s in that candle that smells like a sugary dessert? Get ready because we’re about to give you the dirt on endocrine disruptors.
Endocrine disruptors are bad chemicals that interfere with the normal functioning of our hormones, leading to tons of health problems. This nasty impact includes anything from reproductive issues to developmental delays, and they lurk in everyday products!
Good news: There are plenty of ways to reduce your exposure to endocrine disruptors.
Let’s get science–y for a minute. The endocrine system is a network of glands that create hormones in your body. Hormones are basically chemical messengers that help regulate things like…
💪 Growth and development
❤️🔥 Reproduction and sexual function
⚡️ Metabolism and energy balance
🫀 Blood pressure and heart rate
😄 Mood and behavior
The hypothalamus (a small brain region) leads this system. It not only controls your body’s temperature, appetite, and blood pressure, but also regulates the release of hormones from the pituitary gland.
The hormones released by the pituitary gland control the other glands in the endocrine system, like the thyroid, adrenal glands, ovaries, and pancreas. The pituitary gland also releases Oxytocin and endorphins—those feel-good hormones. 🥰
The endocrine system functions like a thermostat: Just as a thermostat turns on the heat or AC until your home reaches the set temperature, your endocrine system senses the amount of each hormone in your blood and will increase ☝️ or decrease 👇 production until it’s back at the needed level. Cool, right?
This system is super complex and sensitive to being thrown out of balance. When things are out of whack, you don’t feel so hot. Endocrine-disrupting chemicals can cause major imbalances.
Now that we know what endocrine disruptors are… What do they do to your body?
Endocrine disruptors can:
🙅♀️ Block the pathway between a natural hormone and a receptor.
🧪 Alter production, causing a gland to over or under produce.
🥸 Mimic a natural hormone, so your body reacts at the wrong time or the wrong way.
Basically, they interfere with the normal functioning of the endocrine system. Using the thermostat analogy, imagine the temperature sensor becomes damaged, and your thermostat doesn’t know how much to heat or cool your house.
Endocrine disruptors have even been linked to serious health issues such as ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, metabolic disorders, diabetes, infertility and other reproductive disorders, and cancer.
It’s clear—you don’t want to mess with your endocrine system.
Let’s look at some of the common endocrine disruptors and where we find them. You should avoid these wherever possible!
What are parabens and where are they found?
Parabens are used as preservatives in cosmetics, food, and drugs to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. They are most often found in personal care products like sunscreen, shampoo and conditioner, and cosmetics.
Parabens are usually listed under names such as isopropylparaben, methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben.
The dangers of parabens
Parabens are endocrine disruptors that mimic estrogen in the body, impacting the male and female reproductive system, and have even been linked to breast cancer. They also aren’t regulated by the FDA. Yikes. 😰
What are Benzophenones and where are they found?
Benzophenone is added to products to protect them from the effects of UV ☀️ light to maintain the color or scent. It’s found in personal care products like lip balm, food packaging, and cleaning products. Derivatives of benzophenone like oxybenzone are commonly used in sunscreen.
The dangers of Benzophenones
There are mixed results from animal studies, but most agree that these ingredients can disrupt the endocrine system by mimicking estrogen and binding to estrogen receptors in the body. Benzophenone is also listed by California EPA’s Proposition 65 as a possible human carcinogen. Benzophenone and oxybenzone are both persistent, toxic, and accumulate in your body over time. Yuck. 😵💫
What are Bisphenols and where are they found?
Bisphenol A, commonly known as BPA, is a chemical commonly used in plastics and resins like food and drink containers. BPA can seep into food and beverages from the internal coatings of canned food, plastic water bottles, and food containers. This chemical is widespread: A national study conducted by the CDC found detectable levels of BPA in 93% of the population. 😬
The dangers of Bisphenols
Bisphenol A disrupts the endocrine system by binding to estrogen receptors in the body. This is linked to an increased risk of hormone-related cancers, such as ovary, breast, and prostate cancer, and can also induce resistance to various chemotherapies.
What are Phthalates and where are they found?
Phthalates are used to make plastics more durable or to help dissolve other ingredients. Phthalates are found in plastic packaging and personal care products like soaps and hairspray, and in added fragrances like in scented candles and skincare.
The dangers of Phthalates
Phthalates can impact gene expressions and cause physiological changes. Studies have shown a significant link between phthalate exposure and insulin resistance, allergies, asthma, Type II diabetes, and adverse reproductive outcomes in men and women, such as earlier menopause and preterm birth. A 2012 study found that 10% of pregnant women were negatively impacted by phthalates.
Did you know that artificial fragrance is not regulated by the FDA the same way as other ingredients in cosmetics and skincare? This means that companies can use whatever combination of nasty chemicals they want to create a scent and most of us don’t even know about this!
Artificial fragrances are known irritants, and are not only the biggest cause of cosmetic contact dermatitis, but also can induce skin sensitivity and skin allergies. The risks are huge, and big beauty isn’t transparent about these negative impacts.
If it weren’t clear by now, it’s important to avoid endocrine disruptors in your skincare, home, and life. So, what can you do to protect yourself? Read labels carefully. If you see "fragrance" or "parfum" listed as an ingredient, leave it on the shelf.
Even easier… Find trusted brands that never include added fragrances or other toxins (like us!). Some of us are trying to do better by consumers. 💛 No artificial scents here!
Shop our collection to see how simple, natural ingredients can transform your skin so you can ✨ glow ✨ inside and out. Because you deserve better.
Step on up to the hydration station, where we’re diving beneath the surface to take a look at just what you need to keep your skin feeling and looking its absolute best. 💃
🙋♀️ Raise your hand if you’ve ever thought:
“My skin is so dry and nothing works! Even when I moisturize.”
Girl, same. At least before we started making changes.
Without moisture, your skin can look damaged and aged. With the right amount and right kind of moisture, your skin keeps its elasticity, giving you more youthful looking skin and a healthier glow.
That’s why it’s *so* important to keep your skin moisturized with the right kind of moisturizer for your skin. The RIGHT kind of moisture is key here.
If it’s not working 👉 the type of moisturizer you use could be to blame. 🔎 Do a quick ingredient check: Does your moisturizer have alcohol listed in its ingredients?
Alcohol is in nearly every kind of skincare product. It sneaks its way into your products by using other names in conjunction with alcohol sometimes even though there’s an “alcohol-free” label on the bottle (don’t get us started on misleading labels).
These ingredients (unbeknownst to you) push their way right into your skincare routine… And that’s not a good thing.
Alcohol is used to help products penetrate the skin so that the product can be effective. Okay, that doesn’t sound so bad. It’s good in theory.
The truth is that while alcohol may help things like good moisture penetrate the skin faster → it also accelerates signs of aging. 🤨
When you use products with alcohol in the long term, all you’re doing is consistently breaking down your skin’s natural barrier. That’s actually how the product is penetrating your skin!
That damage is why you may think you found your dream moisturizer—it feels so good—but after the 2nd or 3rd bottle, it’s no longer working for you.
👉 TLDR: Alcohol is a quick fix solution backed by Big Beauty that is actually damaging your skin when used consistently over time.
But only the right amount (and right type) of moisture.
Irritated skin, or skin that has a damaged natural barrier (often because of alcohol), will have a hard time holding moisture. So keeping your skin hydrated will help you build up that barrier and keep your skin feeling fresh and flawless.
But keeping your skin hydrated isn’t always easy: Other things can damage your natural barrier, too.
And more. Those colder months or dryer parts of the country? ❄️ They’re going to take their toll, too.
That’s why you need skincare products that soothe and heal as well as moisturize. When you moisturize your skin the right way—with the right kind of product for your skin, free of harmful chemicals—you’re helping to heal your natural barrier.
✨ Be intentional about which products you choose.
You need skincare products that promote your skin’s natural barrier, so your skin will naturally stay hydrated better. That means slowing down the breakdown of collagen, skipping the alcohol, and repairing damaged skin cells.
✨ Drink up, baby. Water, water, and more water, that is.
There’s a difference between hydration and moisturizing. Hydration goes beyond your skin—it actually starts internally.
You may have heard that staying hydrated is important, but did you know that it’s just as important as your other skin healthy habits?
That’s right! Hydration isn’t just skin deep—it has to start from the inside out. Plus, we love staying hydrated because it goes hand in hand with staying on top of our other favorite healthy habits. Looking at your water intake—the amount and the quality—is the number 1 place to start if you want to focus on better nutrition.
So go ahead—get yourself a new (emotional support) water bottle and set a goal to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water and staying ultra hydrated.💧
A bottle will keep you mindful of staying hydrated. But, remember, not all water is created the same. Hydration is really another way of saying your minerals are in balance. If you drink a bunch of distilled water, for example, you would actually be DE-hydrating yourself. CRAZY, right? So make sure you getting those good minerals in your water. Where you can you find them?
These are just a few places to find good minerals for hydration.
Your skin will thank you!
Faces, hands, and legs get the worst of skin damage, because they’re often the most exposed. And that makes them extra vulnerable when it comes to dryness. All the more reason to keep them ultra moisturized!
To treat dry skin on your face and legs, it’s important to do a mental inventory. Ask yourself: what could be causing my dry skin? Perhaps you’re frequently stressed, or using a product that’s actually harming your skin.
If so, see what you can do to mitigate whatever could be causing your skin dryness, and then focus on moisturizing the right way—with products that won’t make the situation worse in the long run.
Here at CSM, we never sneak alcohol or other damaging ingredients into our skin products.
✨️ Rose Aloe Witch Facial Toner

👉 Check out our products to give your skin a major upgrade. Let’s heal the skin’s natural barrier, not damage it more just to “feel” good for short periods.

Nowadays, it’s hard to keep up with all the things. You’re busy! You don’t have time to research what the heck big brands are putting in their products. Or what the latest health scare is. You just want to be able to live your best—and healthiest—life. That’s why we do the research for you, so you can get the SparkNotes and prioritize your wellness journey.
Our latest bone to pick: Hidden carcinogens in products you use every day.
The existence and effect of carcinogens are highly researched and scientifically validated. A carcinogen is defined as a substance that can cause or increase the risk of developing cancer. Examples of carcinogens include:
Some exposure to carcinogens is inevitable, which is why it’s super important to limit carcinogens in what you can control, like the products you use regularly. While the level of carcinogens in these products may be low, exposure over time can still pose a threat to your health.
Simply put: You don’t want carcinogens in your home. Luckily, there are better alternatives!
Let’s look at some common household carcinogens, why they’re used, and where you’ll find them. And yea—we were shocked too when we first learned about this list.
What is Formaldehyde and where is it found?
Formaldehyde is used as an industrial disinfectant. It’s also found in adhesives, permanent-press fabrics, and pressed-wood materials like plywood. The National Institute of Health and the The International Agency for Research on Cancer both classify formaldehyde as a human carcinogen.
The dangers of Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde exposure is linked to nasal cancer in the throat and sinuses, and an increased risk of leukemia.
What is Benzene and where is it found?
Benzene often contaminates products such as sunscreen and dry shampoo. This contamination comes from benzene’s chemical attachment to butane, a chemical commonly used in aerosolized products. Know a Stage 1 clinger? That’s benzene to butane. Benzene is also released when burning paraffin-wax candles. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies benzene as carcinogenic to humans.
The dangers of Benzene
Exposure to benzene causes acute myeloid leukemia and has been linked to other leukemias as well as non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
What is BHA and where is it found?
Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is a synthetic preservative used in foods and personal care products like lotions. It’s classified as “reasonably anticipated” and “likely” to be a human carcinogen by The National Institute of Health and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, respectively. And you put that on your FACE? 😬
The dangers of BHA
Exposure to BHA in animal studies caused benign and malignant stomach tumors, and in some cases exacerbated existing tumors. BHA is also an endocrine disruptor, mimicking the hormone estrogen, and disrupting the male and female reproductive systems. This can lead to issues with birth outcomes, fertility, and baby’s development.
What are Parabens and where are they found?
Parabens are used as preservatives in cosmetics, food, and drugs to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. Think sunscreen, shampoo, and conditioner—things you use ALL THE TIME. Parabens are usually listed under the names methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. Then there’s the worst of them all: Isopropylparaben. It’s the most dangerous and is actually banned in cosmetics in the EU.
The dangers of Parabens
Parabens, like BHA, are endocrine disruptors as well. They also aren’t regulated by the FDA (we’re angry about this too). Current studies suggest that parabens can even be linked to breast cancer.
What is Triclosan and where is it found?
Triclosan is an ingredient used to prevent or reduce contamination from bacteria, so it’s often found in hand soaps, dishwashing detergent, body wash, cosmetics, and toothpastes that are labeled as antibacterial.
The dangers of Triclosan
Triclosan is pretty scary! It’s been linked to breast cancer. In animal studies, it’s also been shown to increase inflammation in colonic tissue (colitis), leading to increased colitis-associated colon cancer. These studies show that high levels of triclosan exposure, even in the short term, disrupt and reduce thyroid hormones. There are also ongoing studies in humans investigating the potential breakdown on the skin of triclosan into other chemicals by UV rays. Regardless, we prefer to play it safe while they sort out the details!
So, how can we make our homes carcinogen-free? The first step is reading product labels, especially of the big culprits we talked about above.
Look for products that are Green Seal certified, which forbid the inclusion of carcinogens and other toxins, or EcoLogo certified, which are always made without carcinogens, ammonia, or bleach. These certifications also take into account environmental sustainability, so they’re not just good for you, but for the planet too. 💛
Our personal favorites are Ecos dish soap, which are vegan, hypoallergenic, and sustainable. We also like Method products, which range from personal to home care, and are cruelty, paraben, and phthalate free. We highly recommend you check out their antibacterial spray which contains citric acid instead of triclosan. So good!
Another option is to switch to natural and organic household products, or even make your own. A simple, effective DIY counter cleaner can be made with some lemon juice and vinegar, and you can swap out aerosolized dry shampoo for a homemade version with arrowroot or cornstarch.
We believe knowledge is power, and it’s up to you how you want to incorporate this information into your life. If you want to find and replace all your products at once, go for it, or for a more sustainable alternative choose to replace products with their non-toxic counterparts once you’ve already run out.
If you’re feeling totally overwhelmed by this, our best advice is to start small. Pick a couple products to replace, and grow from there the next time you have to restock something.
And if you’re looking for carcinogen-free, no-BS, non-toxic skincare that works, we’ve got you. Browse our shop to get started on your journey to the skin you’ve always wanted—naturally.
If you’ve been in our community for any amount of time, you probably know how much we value your support—and how we truly want to help you feel good in your skin. That’s why we often check in with our customers to see what’s working, and how we can help more! We love these connections and hearing directly from you!
Recently, we chatted with Erinn (Lacey's sister) about her experience using CSM’s products, specifically one of our faves: The RENEW Cleanser. Here’s her story…
Erinn had combination skin growing up with both oily and dry patches. Her skin condition worsened when she became an adult, and she developed large cystic acne, mostly along her jawline.
We asked her a little bit about her skin and how she felt about it before using CSM:
"I was so embarrassed by my acne and never wanted to leave the house without covering it up. And that's not a great feeling. I could try and hide it with makeup, but I knew it was still there.
I remember one time in particular that really stands out to me. I was meeting my boyfriend's family for the first time, and it meant a lot to me. I wanted to make a great first impression. But I was mortified that my skin was going through such a bad breakout. So, I slathered on more makeup to help conceal the acne, but it wasn't a good solution."
After years of trying every skincare product she should, she finally found CSM. Its natural, organic ingredients changed everything.
Erinn found CSM and is never turning back…
"The impact CSM products have had on my skin is amazing. My acne has disappeared since using CSM! The results have been such a drastic improvement—life-changing, really.
Emotionally, it's been a game-changer. My acne really affected how I felt about my appearance and how I showed up (or hid) each day. I had been so embarrassed by my acne that I never wanted to go out.
Now, I don't have to hide under a ton of makeup and can run errands with a fresh face with just CSM products!"
Erinn is obsessed with the whole CSM line, but her #1 fave product is the RENEW Organic Facial Cleanser. She washes her face twice a day with this gentle, exfoliating cleanser. It's the simplicity of the formula and its effective way of balancing the skin that keeps her coming back. Plus, results!
"With daily use of the RENEW Organic Facial Cleanser, my skin has completely evened out. My extra oily spots and dry areas are no longer difficult to manage. My adult acne is not an issue today!
Bye-bye, acne-covering makeup (thanks to the best natural face wash for clear skin).
I feel like I've found gold! I love all the products because they are gentle on my skin and made with organic ingredients. Plus, they are clean and affordable. What's not to love?"
Want results like Erinn?
Or dreaming of clear, glowing, vibrant-looking skin?

Let’s get science-y. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is responsible for keeping your skin soft, hair strong, and joints healthy. It's made up of amino acids that our bodies require to stay youthful.
And it's what gives your skin its elasticity and firmness, keeping your body looking youthful and vibrant.
As we age, our bodies lose collagen, leading to wrinkles, sagging skin, and joint pain.
Your body is so amazing, and its process of making collagen is complex, involving dozens of enzymes and other substances that interact with each other in a specific sequence. Science!
But, as we age, our bodies produce less collagen. Outside factors can also cause damage to collagen and its skin-plumping benefits. 😬
☀️ UV exposure damages skin cells, breaking down collagen and causing premature aging and wrinkles.
🚬 Smoking damages collagen fibers, weakening skin tissue structure, and causing skin sagging.
🍸 Alcohol consumption reduces vitamin C levels in your body—an essential component of collagen production.
So if you're noticing signs of aging on your skin (like wrinkles), this could signify that you need more collagen in your diet!
(Don't worry—we have good news. There are ways to slow down this process and help maintain healthy-looking skin for longer.)
If your body isn't producing enough collagen, you may see the adverse effects. And we want you to feel good when you see yourself in a mirror.
Here are some signs and lack of collagen symptoms to look out for:
You never like it when someone says you look tired (even when you're not!). Hollowness under your eyes or loss of full cheeks is evidence that your collagen is damaged or your body isn't producing enough. When your skin has a plethora of collagen, it looks healthy, vibrant, and energized.
When the skin around your jawline, neck, and even above your knees loses its structure and looks crepey, your skin's elasticity diminishes. This loss is common during the natural aging process and can be exasperated by an unhealthy lifestyle.
You can expect your skin to lose some elasticity and vibrancy as you age. But if your skin is prematurely aging, your collagen production could be damaged by environmental factors.
Good news! You can avoid some collagen-harming nasties with a few simple lifestyle choices.
Before reaching for Botox (or other injectables), consider making changes to your diet and lifestyle. Maintaining healthy habits are daily edits you can make to preserve all that glow-worthy collagen…
🥗 Eat well. Foods rich in vitamins A and C, such as spinach, sweet potato, citrus fruits, and berries, will help support collagen production. Also, avoid too much sugar and refined carbohydrates that can break down collagen and elastin.
😴 Embrace the zzz's. One of the best remedies to slow aging, feel your best, and look more energetic is getting restful, regenerative sleep each night.
⛱ Cover up. Use a daily natural sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV exposure. (and stay in the shade during peak sun hours).
🚭Halt the habit. If you've been over-imbibing with too much alcohol or exposing yourself to (any amount of) cigarette smoke, it's time to dial it back and seek healthier alternatives.
🌱 Indulge in naturals. Boost your skin-plumping results with natural, clean ingredients in a consistent skincare routine. The topical love you show your skin will pay off with hydrated, smooth, glowing results.
We adore our new Collagen Face Mask for a supercharge of extra collagen. This luxurious hydrogel gold mask feels like a magical quick fix to plump fine lines and wrinkles or when you need some extra pampering. Use weekly to see tighter skin and enjoy the long-term gain of slowing the look of aging.
Collagen is a critical component for younger-looking skin, healthy joints, and gorgeous locks of hair.
And, although we all age, we can still do plenty to naturally protect our precious-plumping collagen.
We can gracefully savor a more youthful-looking appearance by incorporating a few simple healthy lifestyle habits and clean, natural skincare into our daily routines.
As clean beauty connoisseurs, we renew and refresh our skin on the daily. As business owners, we've rejuvenated our branding this year too. Lots of fresh looks, a new website, products, and packaging.
It's been a lot to take on, but we're thrilled with the results (and hope you are too!).
At the end of each year, our team gathers to reflect on where we've been and formulates a clear vision for our path forward. ✨
This is Lacey here. 👋 When I was younger, I couldn't imagine a day when I actually felt confident, radiant, and healthy.
Looking back, I'm sad that I had this outlook. But today, I'm so thankful for my curiosity + willingness to try new things to get me where I am today—feeling radiant and healthy in my skin.
I spent years in an endless loop of repeated letdowns from products that left my skin even worse than when I’d started. Sometimes, I'd find a potential winner that worked for a few days or weeks, only to realize a couple of months later that what I was using was harming my skin.
Eventually, after years of struggle trying to find the solution, I found the inspiration I needed to create products I could believe in. It only took moving across the world to get that inspo.😅
Living in Hong Kong was one of the best experiences of my life, and a big part of that was because I got introduced to natural options that aren't "trendy" here in the US. And they actually worked.
When I returned to the States, I dove headfirst into my newfound passion and created CSM with my husband, Keith. He had seen the changes I experienced, and because he was diving deep into his own path of healthy living, our decision to go after this mission together was a no-brainer. 🧠
That combined passion has bloomed beyond what we ever imagined. Now, I find fulfillment in providing effective clean options to others and by helping spread awareness about the beauty industry and holistic living in general.
It's shocking how some beauty brands pile on nasty ingredients that don't do your skin any good and can cause long-term harm. 📛
When you expose your body to the chemicals and toxins so common in the beauty industry, it does more than damage your skin. For me, it affected my daily life—I experienced all the things… from adverse skin reactions to social anxiety manifesting from discomfort in my body.
There's a lot of confusing info out there when it comes to holistic living and clean beauty. It's overwhelming. Luckily, you don't have to take the scenic route as I did.
It's a lot easier when you start with something simple… That's why we've created products that simplify your routine so you can eliminate the need for multiple steps rather than muddying it up with more stuff in your bathroom cabinet.
When we develop products, we always weigh the risk and rewards for our customers. The decision comes down to: Are there any potentially harmful side effects for our customers? If yes, we don't use it. Period.
That goes for every ingredient we put into our products and how the final formula works when it's packaged up and ready to use.
We invest in testing our products extensively, and we question everything. If we see any adverse reactions in development, we pivot and create a new solution to ditch the harmful ingredients for something better. 🔬There's no space for shortcuts; No need for shady practices.
The CSM stance? We create better products to help you feel empowered—so you glow inside and out. 🌟
It's been a year of change, growth, and challenge (in a good way).
We've elevated our website and overall look, introduced exciting new products, and offered them in more eco-friendly packaging. 🌿
Our growth in this hyper-competitive space has been thrilling. But we're not in this to grow as fast as we can and then sell out. We’re on a bigger mission to actually help people.
We have some great ideas brewing for more products, but all in due time. And only if they serve a needed purpose.
CSM is here to help you in your wellness journey—to experience living more fully and confidently. To know that what you're putting on your body is good for you. 💓
Our hearts are filled with gratitude and excitement for our community's love and support. It invigorates us to continue promoting our message of natural beauty—helping you live confidently in your skin.
And this is only the beginning. Thank you for being on this journey with us! 🙏
]]>But it's actually a much more complex organ. Yes, your skin is an organ—your largest one, in fact. 💡
And it performs so many functions. Your skin…
✨ acts as a filter for toxins
✨ protects internal organs from bacteria
✨ helps regulate body temperature
✨ heals surface wounds
Did you know that 80% of your immune system exists in your skin? 🤯
So, it's super important that we set it up for its natural detox success—helping prevent disease and premature aging (due to damaging free radicals).
The word "detox" is one of those buzzwords that gets thrown around a lot. You might have heard that detoxing is good for your skin. But what does detoxing mean?
In short, detoxing is the process of removing toxic substances from your body.
And since your skin reflects what's happening inside your body, you want to keep it clean and in good working order! So it can glow beautifully for that radiantly-healthy look we swoon for.
So, even though your skin is on the outside, detoxing your skin starts on the inside.
And the most effective way to detox your skin is to start with lymphatic drainage.
You might be wondering what lymphatic drainage has to do with detoxifying your skin.
It sounds extra science-y 🤓but, it's quite simple—and very effective! The lymphatic system helps clean your body of toxins, excess fluid, and waste built up over time.
Picture a little garbage truck driving through your body, picking up excess fluids from tissues along its route. 🚛Then dumping the waste properly, never to be seen again, so your system stays sparkling clean and in good working order! 💖
Your lymph system has two main functions:
Your lymphatic system is a network of vessels and nodes. This internal transportation highway takes waste products from tissues to the bloodstream. It also serves as an immune function bestie, carrying white blood cells to where they're needed to fight off infection and help prevent disease. 😷Ummm, yes, please!
When the lymphatic system isn't working correctly or gets stagnant because of poor diet, environmental factors, and too much stress, you're left with what feels like a heavy load on your shoulders (and everywhere else). 😰
All those toxins floating around need a place to go!
How do you know if your lymphatic system isn't flowing well?
There are a few tell-tale signs that your lymphatic system is backed up:
⛔Digestive Issues
⛔Lack of Energy
⛔Skin Problems
⛔Poor Circulation & Stiffness
⛔Nasal/head Congestion
The good news—it doesn't take a lot of effort to get your lymph system flowing again (and keep it that way). There are simple, natural techniques that you can incorporate into your daily routine (no serums or pills needed).
Getting the lymphatic system pumping out toxins and moving is a simple (and necessary) way to reduce your toxic burden, increase your circulation, and revitalize your skin.
Here are two of our favorite ways to get your lymph flowing:
Dry Brushing is Lacey's all-time favorite method for increasing lymphatic drainage and so much more: Removing dead skin cells, improving circulation, reducing cellulite, and increasing collagen production. It's the jackpot of healthy benefits!
It's been an absolute game-changer for Lacey's confidence and helped spur her journey into natural skincare.
Take it up a notch: You can use a Gua Sha tool for either a facial massage or body scraping. We recommend using a polished quartz stone. This ancient technique helps to increase circulation, release tight muscles, and depuff problem spots like under the eyes. 😍
When using Gua Sha for the face, make sure to use a natural oil to create a smooth, lubricated surface, so there’s no pulling or tugging on the skin.
If you want to improve your skin's health (and glow), it's essential to detox your lymphatic system and have it working well.
When you start using lymph-promoting self-care techniques, as Lacey has incorporated into her self-care routine, you'll notice a huge difference in how your skin looks and acts.
Lacey's transformation was life-changing. It dramatically improved the look of her skin, boosted her confidence, reduced her cellulite, and gave her increased energy and vitality. ❣️
We'd love for you to experience the feeling of good health and naturally glowing skin too. Happy dry brushing!
What is cellulite, and what causes that dimply look?
We're not talking about the cute little dimples on a toddler's sweet face. Nope.
More like the orange-peel-looking, bumpy bits on your thighs, bum, and legs🍊
So, what's up with lumps?
It's a common condition called cellulite that isn't harmful to your health. But your self-confidence may have a different opinion about it, especially during leg-baring warm weather. ☀️
Cellulite is mainly hereditary. It can look worse with weight gain, changes in hormone levels (birth control pills, pregnancy), or lack of exercise. Cellulite usually shows up in women after puberty when estrogen increases.
When fat cells beneath the skin layers push unevenly against our connective tissue (fascia), the look of lumps shows up.
Our founder, Lacey (like 85-95% of women), tried to hide her legs for years with long pants and skirts. It was a constant battle of covering up instead of finding a solution that really worked.
She was so frustrated, and her confidence (especially as a model) took a big hit.
With Lacey's foray into natural, clean beauty, she experimented with different methods until she found what worked.
And although there isn't an actual "cure" for cellulite, you can reduce its appearance—naturally. YAY, good news!
Luckily—it's not as hard as you might think!
Check out these 5 ways you can reduce the appearance of cellulite:
Move your body. 🏋️
Exercise increases circulation in your skin and helps your body get rid of toxins that can get trapped in your fat cells. That means improved elasticity and a smoother appearance! Plus, exercise helps you maintain a healthy weight and reduces stress that can cause inflammation.
Eat more healthy fats. 🥑
Wait, what? More fat? Your body needs fat. But not all fats are created equal.
Healthy fats, like those found in animal fats and coconut oil, can help you feel full longer, lose weight, and improve your skin tone. Healthy fats also reduce inflammation in your body (less inflammation = less cellulite!).
Use essential oils. 🌱
If you've followed Lacey's story, you know her love for clean beauty started with the discovery of essential oils.
The power of plants in essential oils can help target key cellulite-busting areas:
You can add invigorating essential oils to massage oil, body lotion, or even a few drops on your palms to breathe in their scent before you start your day.
Drink (some) caffeine. 🍵
Whether you prefer coffee or green tea, a little caffeine can stimulate your system, burn fat, increase blood flow, and suppress your appetite.
But all things in moderation. Too much caffeine can dehydrate, which is the opposite of the plumped, glowing skin we want
Dry brush.💓
Here's the key …🗝️
A healthy lymphatic system makes all your other systems function well. Your lymph system helps your body regenerate healthy cells and encourages collagen production for skin elasticity retention.
*Dry brushing for just a few minutes daily can help you achieve this.*
So, not only will you get smoother, softer, more even-toned skin. Your whole system benefits. Win-win-win!
Our innovative natural Body Brush has soft massage buds to soothe muscles while natural bristles stimulate lymph nodes for improved circulation, boosting collagen production.
Check out our simple daily dry brushing technique to get you smooth and confident, ready to flaunt your fresh, glowing skin in no time. Yes, please!
Bonus: this Dry Brush does even more than reduce cellulite… 🤩
👉 Removes dead skin cells and toxins from your skin.
👉 Ditches dullness for a smooth afterglow.
👉 Heals and hydrates to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
👉 Unclogs pores to avoid ingrown hairs.
So, you're not only reducing the dimpled area of your skin, but you are also improving your skin's overall health. Happy dry brushing! 🤗
And remember: Regardless of whatever bumps you may have, you still glow, girl. You deserve to treat yourself to something better.
]]>You like to be in the know. You’re curious and stay on top of the latest health news. So you keep informed, learn what’s best for your body, and make the best choices when you can.
✨You’re one of us! ✨
An ingredient nerd with mad respect for honesty and transparency, especially when it comes to what you choose for your daily beauty regimen. 🤓
Hey, you know your skin is your body’s largest organ. So what you put in it totally matters!
Unfortunately, navigating the waters of beauty label claims can be clear as mud.
Can you really trust beauty labels?
Reading about every beauty certification under the sun can be dizzying—and just too damn much. 😵💫
Who has the time? And who do you trust?
If you can think of a facet of clean beauty, there’s a certificate for it…
💛 organic claims
💛 environmental sustainability
💛 fair treatment of workers
💛 humane animal treatment
The problem is, there are *so many* different certifying bodies within each position, boasting the importance of using their logo.
And several for-profit unregulated companies are happy to charge for an official-looking sticker to slap on a bottle. 💰
As if that weren’t enough, plenty of logos are also designed to resemble official certifications, which makes this landscape all the more muddied.
And some clean beauty brands simply can’t afford certifications or to pay to use a logo, even when their products meet or exceed the qualifications.
Companies in the US can claim “clean beauty” on almost anything! There’s no legal or official definition. Even when supposed [green/clean/healthy] beauty products are filled to the brim with “nasties” and healthy-harming synthetics.
There’s just not much scrutiny here. It’s really up to each brand to be “honest” with their claims.
And that’s why it can be hard to know what to buy and what to ditch.
Using marketing claims like clean, natural, or eco-friendly to describe a product that is harmful to the environment or your health is not ok. It’s unethical. But it happens all the time. 😥
It’s called greenwashing.
Greenwashing is a misleading practice that puts a clean or eco-friendly spin on certain claims so the brand or product sounds better, cleaner, or greener than they really are. Gross.
At CSM, we’re honest about our ingredients and processes and want you to have all the info.
We believe when you know better, you do better. Clarity and education for the win!
Now, let’s get to the truth. ⚖️🕵️
Do any of these claims look familiar?
♻️ “Plant-derived”
♻️ “All-natural”
♻️ “Vegan”
♻️ “Cruelty-free”
♻️ “Eco-friendly”
♻️ “Sustainably sourced”
Yes, these are all noteworthy claims.
But are they verified? Are they good for you? Good for the planet?
How do you know which are legit?
There is no “Beauty Industry Board” that awards these designations. Companies can use *buzzy* words and design fancy logos on their packaging. No one is really checking.
The one exception is the USDA Organic seal. But claiming organic doesn’t mean the whole product is made with organic ingredients. To use this seal on packaging, a product must be made with at least 95% organic ingredients and certified by the FDA.
Any other clean or green claim in the US has no regulation. It’s left to each company’s standards and not subject to any scrutiny beyond consumers picking up the bottle. 😬
Forget the flashy claims. Don’t get distracted by the eco-looking labels—they won’t give you the facts you need.
The good news—you don’t need to invest hours learning the ins and outs of cosmetic manufacturing.
*Just read the ingredient list.* That’s all you need to make an informed choice.💡
We try to be completely transparent and open about every single ingredient and the process of creating our products. So you know exactly what goes on your skin.
Those buzzy stickers making products appear a certain way? We don’t believe in that.
You deserve products that are ACTUALLY good for you—and work. And as regular people just like you, we don’t want to lump ourselves in with the big players in beauty by buying into these empty claims.
*Clean, simple ingredients that treat your skin right.*
Want to see what goes into our products? Click around our website, and you’ll see detailed lists of ingredients for every product. Easy peasy.
It’s amazing (and scary) what you uncover when you peel back some layers in the beauty biz.
Since FDA regulations for cosmetics are almost nonexistent, some companies claim whatever they please. And use harmful ingredients in the products you put all over your body.
When companies believe in profits over people, your safety doesn’t always come first.
That’s NOT how we do things at CSM. 👏 Every claim we make is legitimate. Each product undergoes rigorous testing. And if we discover side effects that are even potentially harmful for just a few, that’s considered too risky for us to follow through. Back to the drawing board is a better option than selling you stuff that might hurt you in the long run.
While we don’t have all the answers to Big Beauty’s problems, we work hard to find them.
We care about your skin struggles and will always stand up for what’s healthy, ethical, and effective. Pinky promise.
]]>When shopping for a beauty product, what comes to mind when you read the *buzzy words* natural, organic, and chemical-free?
You think the products are:
✅clean
✅healthy
✅eco-friendly
These terms have been printed on beauty labels and used in advertising for years, marketing brands as good for you, green, and wholesome.
But are they?
Some brands are making strides in using natural, organic ingredients. And being more "green" in the process.
While others use *green sounding words* to appear cleaner than they are—an icky phenomenon known as greenwashing.
Companies that use greenwashing terms and practices essentially trick people into thinking they’re making a good choice when it can actually be the root of many negative side effects.
Plenty of companies want to jump on the [green-colored/eco-friendly] bandwagon but have no intention of making their products healthier for their customers or the environment.
And that's a real bummer. 😠
At CSM, we seek to inform and share what we know to be true. We will NEVER hide something toxic in our products and are always transparent about what goes into every formula.
Although we don’t want to throw shade, we do want to get to the truth for you.🕵️
A green spin on certain claims is a form of propaganda. This misleading practice is either a complete fabrication or doesn't provide the whole story about a company or its products.
Using marketing claims like natural or eco-friendly to describe a product that is harmful to the environment or your health is unethical.
But it happens all the time with companies of all sizes—even the big (okay, especially the big) cosmetic companies. Yuck.
Looks can be deceiving. 👀
Appearing to be a healthy brand through certain graphics, brand colors, or sporadic eco-friendly initiatives can be misleading.
Think of the leafy, plant-focused images some companies use to help them portray a more natural stance. Companies like Aveeno, Huggies Pure & Natural, and The Body Shop. Sorry, not sorry, to be the ones to break the news!
Have you looked at their ingredients lists? They may use a natural ingredient here and there, but their products are not as natural as the marketing department wants you to believe. 🌿
And some companies use a green-colored logo to connote a brand's quote “clean” philosophy. Think of British Petroleum (BP), Simple Green, and Starbucks. ♻️
Sure, these companies may have some green policies or donate money to environmental issues, but are their primary business practices in conflict with environmentally-friendly messaging? Are their products good for the environment? Ummm, no.
These subtle practices are the sneakiest since they don't make an outright claim but give the appearance of healthy and green.
If their eco-messaging is not a cornerstone of their company philosophy, it's greenwashing.
Companies like to be seen in a positive light. So making popular feel-good claims works well for their reputation.
And their bottom line—selling more products and services.
Companies are in business to make money. YES… Money is needed to create jobs, compensate partners, and bring helpful resources to the market. But when it's done at the cost of honesty and integrity, that's where the problem lies.
We believe you can be honest, transparent, and helpful while providing products that deliver on their promise.
We question everything—even if it’s widely accepted as the norm—until we dig deep enough to find the foundational bedrock on which to build. There’s no space for shortcuts; No need for shady practices.
You’ve probably spotted the smattering of icons that line the bottles on beauty store shelves. You know the ones…
"Clean"
"All-natural"
“Sulfate free”
“Paraben free”
They may sound official, but there is no “Beauty Industry Board'' that awards these designations. There’s no test to pass. No ingredient review process.
Most of the “certifications” you see on popular skincare products are just make-believe labels. They’re basically marketing ploys that give these products the illusion of being good for you…In hopes of inspiring more purchases. 💸
In the US, labeling a product “clean” has no regulation. It’s all up to the company’s standards and not subject to any scrutiny beyond consumers picking up the bottle. Many of the brands that use these icons buy the rights to slap these stickers on their products without having to follow through
According to the FDA, you can put anything you want in cosmetics (source). Let’s repeat that… You can put any ingredient you want in cosmetics. That means those “clean” products in the drug store “clean beauty” section may be filled to the brim with synthetic chemicals.
You deserve products that are ACTUALLY good for you–and work. No fancy buzzwords. No misleading stickers. Just simple ingredients so you know exactly what you’re getting.
Here's a quick guide to some of the most common cosmetic greenwashing terms and what to look for—no science degree required!
Clean: What signifies a clean ingredient list? It's pretty much up to the manufacturer to decide. Even if parabens and phthalates aren't used, other irritating chemicals, like synthetic fragrances, may be added, which can cause health problems like asthma and allergies.
Organic: Just claiming organic doesn’t mean the whole product is made with organic ingredients. To use the USDA Organic seal, a product must be made with at least 95% organic ingredients and certified by the FDA.
Naturally derived: While an ingredient may have started out as a whole plant or natural compound, it can undergo intensive processing. And end up very different than initially harvested. So you may think the ingredient is natural, but the end result might be closer to a synthetic instead.
Eco-friendly: Sustainability has become a buzzword lately. For a good reason—companies are making significant strides toward more environmentally-friendly packaging. But what’s inside the bottle? The formula may contain ingredients that aren’t good for you or the planet. To be safe, look for brands that are transparent about their material sourcing, business practices, and ingredient lists.
Take a look at this handy list of 10 toxic ingredients to avoid—helping you steer clear of the big nasties out there.
We will NEVER hide something toxic in our products and are always transparent about what goes into every formula.🪟🔍
Cutting through the clutter of claims doesn't have to be a mud-slogging journey with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.
In fact, it's actually quite simple.
*Read the ingredient list instead of the marketing claims.* 📖
Going by the brand's tagline to influence your purchasing decision won't give you the whole story.
(Unsure about a specific ingredient? Bookmark this link for a database of ingredients from EWG.)
Pro Tip: The first few ingredients you see on the label contain the highest percentage of the formula. If the majority aren't plant-based ingredients, it's probably not a natural formula.
It's more likely a *fairy dusting* of plant extracts to make a green claim. 🧚
A product may have broad claims like all-natural, organic, or botanical. And hopefully, they are true. But now you know what to look for!
Bottom line: Do your research and choose authentic brands with simple, transparent messaging. And, when in doubt, look at the ingredient list—not the flashy claims.
]]>Our venture into this holistic world started with curiosity.
We went from playing poker professionally—all-nighters, smoke-filled rooms, and plenty of crazy distractions, to uber-clean living—only non-toxic candles after sundown, rising before dawn, and founding a holistic skincare company.
That’s quite a shift.
While living in the pro-gambling world, we met, fell in love, got married, and traveled the world together.
And that's when things changed for us.
All it took was a move to the other side of the world for the new journey to begin.
Hey, this is Lacey.
While living in Hong Kong, I discovered natural options and the powers of holistic treatments. I found aromatherapy remedies for my skin conditions that actually worked! I asked endless questions and dove headfirst into finding out more.
I had been dealing with skin issues all my life. From allergic reaction to eczema and facial scars from multiple dog bites.
The amazing results I experienced got me thinking about the power of natural therapies. And pivoting into an overall healthier lifestyle.
Hi, this is Keith.
Just like Lacey, I had the drive to dig deeper into pursuing holistic alternatives. My fast life as a professional gambler, starting at 17, began to take a toll, and I needed a positive change.
I loved researching and experimenting with different holistic modalities and practices to see what made the biggest differences for me.
My interest in natural health and holistic living has been an immersive, life-changing experience. Not only do I feel better, but I show up more engaged and, with Lacey, created a business around our discoveries and research.
But I didn't start here. It's taken me years of seeking to feel like I've arrived.
Now, I love to share my discoveries with all who'll listen!
When we started caring about our health more and diving into this holistic world, we were overwhelmed.
But we started small.
One of the biggest changes we made was going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. It's been a lifestyle game-changer for us. We've experienced:
✨ More clarity.
✨ Reduced stress.
✨ Improved memory.
✨ Better quality sleep.
✨ Increased energy levels.
✨ Boosted immune systems.
These days, when the sun sets, we light candles *no bright evening lights* and settle into bed at about 7 pm. We chat, read, or watch a show on the laptop (with glasses that filter blue light).
We wake up with no alarm between 4:00 - 5:00 am—about when we went to bed during the old poker days!
Everyone has their own circumstances and challenges, so remember to give yourself grace.
Be open and curious.
Embracing a healthier lifestyle isn't about being perfect but making decisions that will give a better outcome. 💛
A few ideas to try…
⚡Wake up before the sun.
⚡Move your body in some way every day–try Pilates and walking.
⚡Simplify your routines by cutting out anything that isn't necessary.
⚡Schedule downtime.
⚡Sit for 5 minutes and just breathe.
⚡Limit harmful ingredients (good vibes only, please).
Whatever you do, try to make just a small change today. The impact will compound over time, and eventually, you'll feel so much better.
We're here to give you all the juicy details about just what holistic living means and how you can make intentional changes to live in alignment with the vision you have for yourself. 💛

We have days that we feel that our routine is too much or too messy that we skip it.
No judgment. We certainly have those days, especially when it is face mask day!
Or when we have to apply facial peels, creams, body butter, or similar products.
Trying to spread it evenly can be a challenge when using your hands or synthetic brushes that clump up.
Ugh. We love and hate it. We love how nourishing it is on our skin, but we hate the cleaning part. It gets on everywhere! And it wastes too much product.
It is a struggle shared by many, so we thought of a solution for this - our silicone CSM Silicone Face Mask Brush.
Our CSM Face Mask Brush is a three brush set perfect for face masks, face creams, foundation, peels, lotions, body butter, wax and more.
With an easy-to-use design, it guarantees even application and a clean skincare routine session.
A clean session means; no more messy drips, no more contaminated products, no more hard-to-clean beauty tools, and no more possible bacterial growth on your brushes.
It is soft, flexible, heat and odor resistant, non-staining, and hygienic. Perfect for sensitive and acne-prone skin. Perfect for everyone!
It is important to clean your beauty tools first before using them, especially if they are new. We recommend soaking the tips for 3 minutes with lukewarm water and any gentle cleaning agent (our favorite is Dr. Bronner's Pure Liquid Castile Soap!) for the first time use.

We know you are curious about this trending skincare tool. Many celebrities and influencers have been using this as part of their essential skincare tools.
We can’t blame them because this facial sponge is nothing but ingenious. Who would have thought that cleansing and exfoliating be this good? Not just that, its benefits? Remarkable.
But what is Konjac anyway?
A native plant from Yunnan, a province in China, the Konjac plant (also known as the Devil's tongue) is a perennial plant classified as a member of the Araceae family.
The Konjac plant has an edible fleshy underground stem called a corm (yam). In Asian cuisine, the corm is used as flour or a vegan substitute for gelatin. If you are familiar with Shirataki noodles, it is made from Konjac's corm.
Although this plant is usually a food additive or a dietary supplement, its uses don't end there. Asians have been using Konjac sponges as part of their body cleaning tool even before the hype started.
Konjac sponges are from natural Konjac plant fiber. It is a soft natural sponge that can be used even for babies' delicate skin. It is an eco-friendly alternative to washcloths.
Konjac face sponge is a gentle exfoliating tool. It easily became a favorite skincare tool because it’s gentle yet exfoliating. Amazing, right?
And if you are still wondering how to use this skincare tool, then this guide is for you.
Our CSM Organic Sponges are the best quality exfoliating sponges in the market. It is the softest because it is made from premium organic Konjac plant fiber cultivated in Yunnan, China.
It is proven to remove dead skin cells, excess sebum, unclog the pores, reduce acne breakouts, and cleanse away all the stubborn dirt accumulated from the environment.
It is a powerful yet gentle exfoliating tool for all skin types.
A set of our konjac sponges comes with one natural sponge and two activated bamboo charcoal-infused sponges.
The sponges are rich in vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, proteins, lipids, fatty acids, copper, zinc, iron, and magnesium.
It is 100% free from harmful ingredients like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, coloring, chemicals, or toxins.
All the sponges are with strings and itt comes with a suction cup hook, too.
You can easily hang dry your sponges every after use. And its packaging is gift-ready! 💛
This mighty facial exfoliating tool is so easy to use (very similar to makeup sponges), but here is the best way to use your CSM Organic Konjac Sponge:
Our sponges are not just good as gentle exfoliators. This organic beauty tool has many unique uses, too.
Yes, we love using these sponges to help remove makeup. Soak the sponge with water first to soften. Then pour in your favorite makeup remover. It’s soft and gentle, plus it effectively removes stubborn products.
Facial masks are messy, especially when removing them. So instead of directly washing them off with water, which can potentially wash away all the nourishing oils, use a soaked konjac sponge. Don't forget to squeeze out the water from the sponge before using it to remove masks.
The sponges are organic, so they are compostable. And because it holds moisture very well, you can put your used sponges into the pot for water retention to keep your plant well hydrated. Just make sure to clean the sponges to remove other chemicals from skincare products.
Konjac Sponges are surprisingly easy to maintain. Unlike synthetic sponges, natural konjac sponges have anti-bacterial properties that help from possible bacterial growth.
But your Konjac sponges should be regularly cleaned, too, to remove collected dirt and oil. Here's what you need to do:
It is not "hype" just because some celebs used it.
It is labeled the best facial exfoliator because it is simply the best - natural, eco-friendly, and compostable!
Our signature konjac sponges are softer than loofahs, better than washcloths, and way more sanitary than brushes!

How clean is your skincare routine?
By clean, we mean, are you using toxin-free products?
When was the last time you checked the labels?
Most of us do not even bother checking the ingredients. And yes, not all the listed ingredients in your favorite skincare products can be safe.
Did you know that cosmetics and skincare products are one of the less regulated products in the US?
Unfortunately, the FDA does not impose strict regulations on cosmetics and skincare products — no pretesting, no product review.
According to statistics, the skincare market prediction will skyrocket by 30% in the next five years. Yet despite the booming market, the safety regulations of cosmetic and skincare use are still not a priority.
Generally, the safety of the consumer relies on the consumer. But here in CSM, our consumers' right to know the safety of the products they use is a priority.
We advocate wellness, we advocate safety.
And because we care about you, we listed the top ten worst ingredients you need to avoid in your skincare products:
Paraben is a preservative commonly found in many skincare and cosmetic products. It is known that parabens are easily absorbed by the body.
Thus, several studies were conducted to assess its safety. And it gained both positive and negative connotations from researchers.
A particular study found that our body can easily absorb parabens which they noted as harmful. They emphasized that parabens can disrupt our endocrine system. And a disrupted endocrine system can affect the fitness and functions of the body.
Another study reviewed the potential harm of parabens found in breast cancer tissues. It can be from the topical products used containing these preservatives. It is possible because it easily penetrates the skin.
Also listed as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and Ammonium Laurel Sulfate. These are common ingredients for cleaning products and shampoos.
Many suspected that sulfates may be a carcinogen, but it remains unproven. But, the International Journal of Toxicology declared that is it an irritant. Products with sulfate are not good if you have rosacea, eczema, or contact dermatitis.
Formaldehyde is also known as formalin. It is a common ingredient in cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, and cleaning products. It is important to know that our body can easily absorb formaldehyde.
With this, exposure to formaldehyde should be strictly regulated. It can cause cancer when overexposed. So for your safety, try to avoid skincare products containing this ingredient.
Commonly written as "fragrance" or "parfum" on skincare labels. It might sound straightforward but it's a complicated ingredient. Who knows how many chemical ingredients it needs to make it. The FDA does not require a specific list of ingredients in fragrance, too. Yikes, right?
Artificial fragrances can trigger allergies. It may cause headaches and nausea. Just the thought of it should give you a hint that if you don't know where it is coming from, then stay away from it.
A known carcinogen, BHA and BHT are preservatives used in moisturizers and cosmetic products.
Long-term exposure to these synthetic ingredients can be harmful to us. It can disrupt our endocrine system. According to a study, it can cause liver, thyroid, and kidney problems. It can also affect our lungs and may cause blood clots.
Phthalates belong to the list of endocrine-disrupting chemicals. It is a common ingredient in plastic products, household products, and skincare.
But some studies proved how harmful this chemical can be. Aside from being an endocrine disruptor, it can also lower sperm count, birth defects in the male reproductive system, obesity, diabetes, and thyroid issues.
Toluene acts as a solvent in nail products. It is a clear liquid with an aromatic odor that may cause nausea and irritation when inhaled. OEHHA listed Toluene as one of the synthetic chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.
Also, it can be toxic to our immune system and a possible link to blood cancer. Europe and Southeast Asian nations restricted the use of toluene in nail products, but the US thinks otherwise. Avoid this chemical ingredient for safety.
Triclosan is an antimicrobial ingredient used in hand sanitizers, soap, toothpaste, and such. But the FDA banned the use of triclosan in hand sanitizers or soaps because it disrupts the endocrine system. Even with this finding, the use of triclosan is still prevalent in the US.
It is also observed that exposure to triclosan may potentially increase the risk of reproductive problems.
Oxybenzone is a known sunscreen ingredient. It can absorb both UVA and UVB rays. But studies show that oxybenzone is a possible endocrine disruptor because it can penetrate our skin and bloodstream even in one use.
Sunscreen with oxybenzone is banned in Hawaii because of its danger to coral reefs. Other countries restricted or limited the use of this chemical ingredient because it lacks data on its safety.
The cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar market. Companies will go to great lengths to persuade you to purchase their products. So, you need to be vigilant at all times.
Always look for companies that prioritizes your safety and well-being. And that's one of the many reasons why we are here for you.
We skip this part or heavily rely on makeup removers, because (let's be honest) we all love shortcuts.
But facial cleansers are specifically designed to remove dirt and oil without harming the skin on our face — it's one of the softest parts of your skin (and the most exposed), so it requires the gentlest yet effective formula.
Aside from that, cleansing your skin to helps absorb the nutrients from other products you will use. Remember that a dirty face will only repel all the goodness.
So, never, never miss this part.
But take note that choosing a good cleanser that suits your skin type matters a lot.
It's true that what works for you, might not work for others. So, be careful on choosing the right products.
And if you are still looking for the right cleanser, we advice that you start with a multitasker yet gentle cleanser like CSM Renew.

Beauty Tip: Help your skin breakdown stubborn dirt and oil by applying the cleanser on your face before wetting it. Leave it for at least 3 minutes and wash in the shower.

We all want healthy, glowing skin. That’s like every girl’s dream.
But achieving it can be a challenge. Not all of us are blessed with porcelain skin, so we have no choice but to work on it (sometimes, a lot) to have it.
First off, maintaining healthy skin is not just all about skincare. Your lifestyle and diet play a huge part in it.
So even if you are religious to your skincare routine, if you keep consuming unhealthy food or sleeping late, then it won’t work.
But we will not focus on that. Today, we will tackle one important skincare method that actually helps us achieve the glow — yep, it's exfoliation.
And what if we tell you that you've been exfoliating all wrong? 😬
Here's how to exfoliate the right way if you want radiant skin.
Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells.
Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells every month. But as you age, the process gets slower, and not all dead skin will come off completely.
And when this happens, it will result in clogged pores, dry & dull complexion, uneven skin tone, and the last thing we want — a breakout.
So whenever you exfoliate, remember these benefits your skin will enjoy:
By removing dead skin cells, you are giving way to new cells to do their magic. Making your skin looks soft, brighter, and fresh. It unclogs the pores from stubborn dirt like blackheads or whiteheads, which inhibits breakouts as well.
Your skincare products cannot penetrate your skin if it is dry and dull. It’s like a barrier, preventing all the wonderful nutrients from being absorbed. A well-exfoliated skin will soak up all the good things from your favorite skincare products.
If you are regularly exfoliating your skin and have been doing it for quite some time now, you are actually helping your skin produce more collagen. Collagen plays an important part in making your skin look young. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and sagging.
There are two main types of exfoliation: mechanical and chemical.
Growing up, we are not really properly educated on which product is best for our skin. We often love experimenting and seeing if it works or not.
The problem with this is sometimes the mistakes we make are irreversible and can result in permanent damages — that instead of improving your skin, you are harming it.
So it is important to know about exfoliation, how to do it correctly, and what works best for your skin type.
Mechanical exfoliation is a method where you remove dead skin cells manually.
Skincare products with microbeads or granules is categorized as physical exfoliators. And skincare tools like sponges, washcloths, loofas, or brushes are considered mechanical exfoliators, too.
But mechanical exfoliation is not for everybody, especially if you have hypersensitive skin. So, consider the pros and cons of mechanical exfoliation before you do it.
Pro-Tip: Know your skin type. And then look for mechanical exfoliators that are gentle yet effective. Our personal favorite is CSM Konjac Sponges with CSM Renew. Made of natural ingredients, perfect for all skin types.
Chemical exfoliation uses natural or synthetic acids that help peel away dead skin cells.
The most common chemical exfoliants are AHA, BHA, and Enzymes.
The popular AHAs used in skincare products are lactic acid and glycolic acid. These acids are derived from natural resources such as milk, fruit, and sugar.
BHA or Beta Hydroxy Acid is a synthetic chemical exfoliant popularly known as salicylic acid.
And lastly, enzymes are from natural fruits and are light and gentle.
Pro-Tip: Your skin type matters, too. If you have sensitive skin, exfoliants with BHA will work best for you. If you have normal skin, you can use either mechanical or chemical. If you have oily skin, mechanical exfoliants are the best. If you have acne-prone skin, AHA is your best pick.
Now that you know which exfoliating method is best for your skin type, it is also important to learn how to exfoliate properly.
The general rule is never exfoliate the areas with open wounds, cuts, and sunburn. Exfoliating will only aggravate these conditions. So better skip these parts.
Here are the common techniques you can do at home:
The recommended practice is to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. But we love exfoliating our skin daily using our natural body brush — it's gentle to the skin if you know how to use it.
The bottom line is, either mechanical or chemical, you have to consider your skin type because exfoliating can be harmful if not done properly.
So know your skin type, choose the correct products, and always be gentle to your skin to achieve a radiant glow.✨

Cellulite is so common that it affects 85%-95% of women.
Most of the time, cellulite appears after puberty, and around this age, we become more self-conscious.
And yes, having dimpled and lumpy textured skin can be an additional concern, especially if you love wearing short shorts or bikinis.
Although cellulite is not an alarming medical concern, it still affects our confidence big time.
And If you are like us, we know you have tried almost every anti-cellulite treatment you can try.

The best part? You only need two products!
If you are not new to body brushing, you might agree with why we recommend this method.
Dry brushing can remove dead skin cells and smooth your skin, but it is more than that.

This exfoliating method works wonder on our skin, as such, is addicting.
When properly used, the dry brush can do magic on your lymphatic system and blood circulation, too.
Exfoliating with a dry brush every day enhances and maintains a youthful complexion.
Remarkably, with consistent use, body brushing can help reduce cellulite appearance.
That is why we recommend including this practice in your daily self-love routine.
But, of course, just like any other beauty tool, your body brush needs some TLC, too!
Since your body brush removes dead skin cells and excess sebum (oily and waxy substance), some of these yucky residues will stay between the brush bristles.
Remember that a dirty body brush cannot exfoliate your skin effectively.

If you are dry brushing your skin for quite some time now, you might have been enjoying its wonderful benefits.
Aside from being an amazing exfoliating method, dry brushing can improve your overall health.
But these are just a few of them.
Our users have shared their dry brushing journey with us, as well as its surprising benefits.
And we will share them with you, too!
Stretch mark is an inevitable skin condition that mostly affects women. Sometimes called tiger stripes, it is a scar caused by stretching or shrinking of the skin mostly because of weight gain or loss.
It might not be a serious skin condition, but there’s no harm in trying to reduce its visibility as well. Regular exfoliation and good circulation help, thus dry brushing works.
“Dry skin begone. I knew this product would help exfoliate dead skin from my body from reading other reviews, but oh boy – I did not know how well it was going to work. (In the best way possible, FYI.) I don't usually review products, but I'm literally so excited by the results I've gotta share.
Personal history: I have washed my body with a bar of Dove (sans loofah) for the last decade. I've always known myself as having dry skin (arms and legs especially), so I would just lather it with lotion without really thinking much about it. However, after scratching some dead skin off in the shower recently, I decided I wanted some sort of environmentally ethical ish/reusable body scrubber to make exfoliating easier (for my skin and my millennial conscience).
My experience is while using it in the shower with some soap.
PROS
• Really obvious skin exfoliation and surprising smoothness after only a couple uses, even without using lotion [afterward] (upper body specifically. My legs still need some lotion)
• Helps with post-partum stretch marks on my stomach. This wasn't what I was looking for in an exfoliator but it's a cool plus (I'm currently in my mid-20s and had my daughter 1.5 years ago – this experience might vary for others in different circumstances)
• Felt almost massage-like when used in circle motions
• Comes with instructions on how to brush your body
CONS
• The strap does not fit my tiny hands :| which makes exfoliating my back and shoulders an unexpected adventure
• Bristles are initially slightly rough, but what did you expect? (I got used to it)
TL;DR – After only 2 uses in the shower, this brush has transformed my dry, [snakeskin] body into radiant, baby-smooth heaven.” - Catherine
“Hello, smooth skin! I have incredibly bad cellulite back of my thighs and butt as well as stretch marks between my thighs and using this helps a bit, skin feels more smooth and slightly tighter so the chunky parts of my cellulite [aren’t] as pronounced as it was before. I also have acne scars on my back and they seem to have gotten lighter as well. I don't just depend on this product for results, this included me being on a ketosis diet and working out a bit as well as using certain body scrubs with this brush. The brush will feel a little rough but I like that personally cuz it feels like all that top layer of dead skin comes off more easily than with a loofah. When you first use it few strands of the hairs will come out but after that, it stopped shedding so nothing to worry about. - Flores
Keratosis Pilaris is a skin condition that makes your skin dry, together with rough patches and tiny bumps. It is harmless, but it makes us feel less confident.
Dry brushing can exfoliate rough skin. And our users have attested that dry brushing works!
“Wish I had gotten that brush years ago! When I used it for the first time, my first thought was ‘well, that was a mistake.’ -- I thought it was way too rough for my skin. I quickly realized that it softens as it gets [wet] and that your skin gets used to the "roughness" of a brush. Now I wish I had bought it years ago! I was originally looking for a more eco-friendly alternative to my regular plastic loofah (not only did I worry about the possible bacteria growth of a loofah, but I was also tired of having those [things] come apart after a few weeks and turn into a mess). I use the brush wet, and use the same about of body wash (about 3 pumps) as I did with my loofah. It does create quite as much foam as a loofah, but it's plenty to get the job done (I use it on my entire body, but not on my face). This brush got rid of my keratosis pilaris (bumps on the back of the arms) almost immediately, and my entire body glows from the gentle daily exfoliation. I am hooked!” - Marie
“You’ll have to see it to believe it...I have suffered from keratosis pilaris ever since pregnancy 2.5 years ago. I used this brush (dry) for the first time and thought I was imagining [things] because my bumps seemed to vanish right in front of my eyes. I stopped and called my husband in just to get his take, and he was shocked! He could see where I had already scrubbed and said “your bumps are gone right there!” It’s insane. This was only my first use so I’m anxious to see if the results hold up, but wow! This is nuts! I will be forever thankful to help diminish the look of my embarrassment Kp this summer!” - Lorien
Lymphedema is the swelling of tissues due to the accumulation of protein-rich fluid. Usually, this fluid is flushed through the lymphatic system. If the lymph nodes are removed or damaged, it can cause swelling.
Dry brushing helps with circulation and lymphatic drainage. And our users have spoken about its benefits inside and out.
“It helps with my lymphedema. I'm a breast cancer patient with lymphedema, and the skin on the arm that my lymph nodes were removed, got thick and gross. I recently bought this brush, used it once, and am very happy with the results! It smoothed out the awful, thick, bumpy skin that can come with lymphedema. This is a really great product to help people going through something similar.” -Anne T.
“Feels great on my skin! The quality of the dry brush is beyond expectations. Dealing with lymphedema is a problem and this brush makes things easy. It also is great on the rest of my body and skin as it gets rid of dry skin cells and helps aid in circulation!! Highly recommend!” - Heidi

Is your skin dry or dehydrated? Ever stopped to wonder about the difference between these two? Can you have both dry and dehydrated skin at the same time?
Although the terms dry and dehydrated are often used interchangeably, they are not the same. And it is important to know the difference between these two.
Dry skin is a common condition that affects most people at some point in their lives. It occurs when the natural oils and moisture in your skin are depleted. Dry skin occurs because of aging, environmental factors, and lifestyle habits.
Dehydrated skin lacks water, and it's not a permanent skin condition. It can occur on all skin types as such oily, combination, and normal. It occurs when your skin loses more moisture than it takes in. The result is flaky and dull-looking skin that may feel tight and uncomfortable.
It can be difficult to tell the difference between dryness and dehydration. After all, they're both associated with a lack of moisture in the skin. But there are some key differences you need to understand in order to get your skin looking its best.
Dry skin needs ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides to replenish the moisture barrier. On the other hand, dehydrated skin needs ingredients like vitamin C, retinol, and antioxidants to counteract the negative effects of external stressors on the moisture barrier.
Dehydrated skin is different from dry skin because the former lacks water while the latter lacks oil.
Anyone can have dehydrated skin, regardless of age or skin type. It's also possible for you to have both dry and dehydrated skin at the same time if your epidermal barrier is damaged.
If you have dry and dehydrated skin, start with treating your dehydration so your dryness won't look worse than it truly is.
Once you know what you're dealing with, you will easily know how to treat it properly.

One of the most potent natural ingredients in clean skincare products is Papaya Leaf Extract.
It is nothing short of a miracle ingredient for the skin.

So when they had issues with their skin, papaya leaf extract was one of the solutions that were sought after.
Papaya leaf extract benefits can help in the treatment of skin issues. It has many benefits on the skin, but these top three benefits are our favorite:
Papaya leaves are rich in antioxidants and phytonutrients that help fight free radicals, which cause premature aging. Papaya leaf can be used to get rid of wrinkles and other signs of aging on the skin.
Papaya extract contains vitamin A — an antioxidant that improves the appearance of your skin by slowing down the signs of aging. Also, it contains vitamin C, which reduces discoloration and keeps your skin looking healthy and young.
